Toyota has a new plan for the future.
It involves investing $50 Million in the development of smarter cars over a five-year period.
Kiyotaka Ise, Toyota’s Senior Managing Officer and Chief Officer of R&D, made the announcement with this statement.
“We’re here today to mark the beginning of an unprecedented commitment. We will initially focus on the acceleration of intelligent vehicle technology, with the immediate goal of helping eliminate traffic casualties and the ultimate goal of helping improve quality of life through enhanced mobility and robotics."
Their plan to invest in the development of smarter cars is totally understandable as a new study has just predicted popularity of self-driving cars in 5 to 10 years.
However, Toyota is not the first to start investing in their future.
