To be directed by Josh Trank and produced by Russell Ackerman, Lawerence Bender and John Schoenfelder, “Fonzo” is currently in pre-production.

Hardy will play the gangster Alphonse Gabriel "Al" Capone, an American gangster who rose to notoriety as the leader of the Chicago mafia during the Prohibition era.

He was sent to Alcatraz Prison in 1934 for a tax evasion conviction. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison but was released after eight years. On January 25, 1947, Capone died of cardiac arrest after suffering a stroke.

Capone had amassed an estimate of $100 million as the head of the infamous mob.
