Ex-Governor distances self from aide who was arrested by EFCC

The Director, Media and Publicity, Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation, Chief Nathan Egba, has denied claims that Miebi Bribena is an aide of ex-Governor Timipre Sylva.

This is coming on the heels of the arrest of Bribena, an acclaimed spokesman of Sylva, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for alleged contract scam.

Reports say Bribena allegedly disappeared with an undisclosed amount of money paid to him, to execute a contract by the Presidential Amnesty Programme.

Speaking on the issue, Egba said “If the arrest is true, it means that Buhari is a President who does not shield anybody from corruption irrespective of whether you an APC member or not. However, I have not been fully briefed on the matter.”

Also, the Director of Publicity of the Restoration Campaign Organisation, Jonathan Obuebite, praised President Buhari for going after corrupt Nigerians, not minding whether they are members of his party.

Timipre Sylva is the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gubernatorial candidate in Bayelsa state.
