Spain has once again ascended to the pinnacle of world football, as Ferran Torres's first goal of this year's World Cup – arguably the most crucial of his career – secured a 1-0 victory over the dethroned champions Argentina in Sunday's final match.

Following the victory, supporters of various teams converged on Times Square to celebrate Spain's success and the World Cup as a whole.

"I don't know if these people are Spanish, but everyone is happy, and I'm happy too," shared Cristiano Lopez, a Spain fan.

Spain utterly dominated in terms of ball possession and attempts on goal.

However, Lionel Messi and Argentina found a way to stay in the game, pushing it into extra time, albeit with considerable effort.

Early in the second 15-minute period of extra time, Torres latched onto a rebound in the penalty area and, with his left foot, unleashed a powerful shot just under the crossbar, sending it crashing into the net.
