Kunle Afolayan, Genevieve Nnaji discuss international rise of Nollywood [video]

To mark 2016's City to City: Lagos programme, Nollywood director Kunle Afolayan and Genevieve Nnaji sat for a conversation about Nigeria’s vibrant film industry and the international rise of Nollywood at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The two also discussed what the term Nollywood means, and the existence of the popular term 'new Nollywood.' They also spoke about the international audience for Nigerian content, distribution of Nollywood movies, piracy, among other interesting topics.

The Toronto International Film Festival earlier announced that the 2016 City to City programme will focus on Lagos, Nigeria.

The eighth year for the City to City programme, will showcase filmmakers living and working in Lagos, regardless of where their films are set.

On Tuesday, August 16, 2016, TIFF announced eight Nollywood movies which will screen as part of the City to City programme.

The movies include "Okafor's Law," "The Arbitration," "The Wedding Party," "Taxi Driver,"  "Just Not Married," "Green White Green," "76," and "93 Days."
