The Belgium international is expected to be out for at least two months after suffering a serious knee injury.

The keeper trained on Wednesday, but suffered the injury during practice which immediately ruled him out of the Everton trip.

Chelsea doctors are yet to know the full extent of the injury as a result of substantial swelling and how long the goalkeeper will be out.

There have also been fears that the 23-year-old had suffered cruciate-ligament damage but that have been dismissed.

Courtois will miss this weekend's league game against Everton but Jose Mourinho is set to welcome back John Terry who missed Chelsea's home defeat to.

Second choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is set to deputise for Courtois.
