Tebas Responds to Infantino's "Regrettable" Message

La Liga President Javier Tebas has fired back at FIFA President Gianni Infantino's recent tirade. Yesterday, the head of world football posted on social media, addressing critics of the World Cup. He claimed they were "consumed by hatred" and advised them to "meditate, pray, or watch a football match" to "find peace."

Infantino's post asserted that the World Cup passed without incident, despite four Mexican fans dying during celebrations. He also defended the treatment of the Iranian national team, which faced significant visa issues, and the reversal of Folarin Balogun's suspension.

"Gianni Infantino wrote a regrettable message on his Instagram profile and FIFA's. No one disputes that football is about emotion and unity. But transparency, good governance, and accountability are never hatred. They are an obligation. Strong institutions do not discredit those who ask questions. They answer them," Tebas stated.

"And something to ponder, Gianni. When a leader dedicates their entire message to discrediting those who offer critical perspectives, it's inevitable to wonder: why now? Is there something that explains such a defensive tone? Is something happening that we don't know about?" the La Liga chief added.
