The Kawasaki rider's triumph in the opener was his first of the 2015 season and he made it a double by finishing ahead of the rest in the second race of the day.

Sykes battled with team-mate and standings leader Jonathan Rea (+3.743 seconds) for much of the first race, after the pair had overtaken early leader Leon Haslam of Aprilia.

Haslam (+18.304secs) ended that race fourth, missing out on the final podium place which went to Chaz Davies (+15.140secs) of Aruba.it.

The top three places from race one were repeated in race two, as once again Sykes put in a dominant performance.

This time his margin of victory over Rea was more emphatic, finishing 9.772 seconds ahead of his fellow Kawasaki rider, who did well to rescue himself and avoid a huge crash at Coppice Corner on the second lap.

Once again it was Davies who completed the podium, over 12 seconds off the leading pace of Sykes.

Rea remains top of the standings, 101 points clear of Haslam, while Sykes' maximum haul sees him in third, just one point further back.

The Briton's productive day also saw him draw level with Carl Fogarty's record of six race wins at Donington.
