Players, NFF at war over N10M reward from Akwa Ibom State Government

The Akwa Ibom State Government gifted the Super Eagles with N10m for their 1-0 victory over Tanzania in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday, September 3.

The reward comes following the inability of the NFF to pay match bonuses to the players for the dead rubber game against Tanzania.

The players are however furious with the NFF who have converted the N10m to camp allowances.

The players were surprised to hear that the N10m will be used as their camp allowances instead of a separate reward from the Akwa Ibom State Government.

“I can tell you that the players did not find this funny. They expected that the Governor’s cash gift will not have anything to do with their camp allowances, which is $200-a-man a day,” a source told .

According to sources close to the team, the players were informed that they won’t be getting any bonuses for the games due to unavailability of funds to the Sports Ministry.
