The home-based players of the Super Eagles on Monday, September 19 defeated Ghana 2-0 in the group stage of the ongoing
Super Eagles chief coach Salisu Yusuf made six changes to the line-up for the game which Nigeria needed to win to progress to the semi-finals.

Nigeria dominated the first half and were only unable to score due to the brilliance of Ghana goalkeeper Addo Joseph.
Joseph made some smart saves in the game as Tony Okpotu, Ubong Friday and Peter Eneji all had chances to score.
In the 54th minute, Nigeria got their first goal through Okpotu who received a pass in the box and held off Ghanaian defender Vincent Atinga before slotting home.
Plateau United’s Peter Eneji doubled Nigeria’s lead three minutes later, pouncing on a ball in the box to finish past Ghanaian goalkeeper Joseph.
Eneji was voted Man of the Match.
With five points, Nigeria finished Group A in second place behind Ghana who have six points. Both sides have progressed to the semi-finals.
