Indomie Heroes Awards Unveils Its 18th Edition with Bigger Opportunities for Young Heroes
Quiet moments of courage, kindness, and creativity that often happen far from the spotlight. For nearly two decades, the Indomie Heroes Awards have been dedicated to bringing those remarkable stories to light.
Now in its 18th edition, the initiative continues its mission of celebrating young Nigerians who are making a difference in their communities, this time the organisers have added a few exciting updates designed to give even more young heroes the chance to be recognised.
One of the key changes this year is the extension of the age limit from 15 to 16 years, opening the door for more inspiring young people to step into the spotlight.
The call for entries has also opened earlier than usual, with the submission deadline now set for June 2026, giving Nigerians more time to discover, document, and share extraordinary stories from across the country.
And these aren’t fictional superhero tales. They are real-life moments happening in schools, neighbourhoods, and everyday situations where a child simply chose to do the right thing. Sometimes it’s an act of physical bravery, stepping in to help someone in danger. Sometimes it’s social courage, standing up for others when it matters most. Other times, it’s intellectual heroism, a spark of creativity or ingenuity that solves a real problem.
At a recent press conference announcing this year’s edition, one message was clear: the search is officially on again. From now until June, Nigerians are encouraged to submit stories of children aged 0–16 whose actions have made a positive impact on people around them.
Maybe it’s a child who helped someone in a difficult moment. Maybe it’s someone who defended a friend when everyone else stayed silent. Or perhaps it’s a young innovator who came up with a creative solution to a challenge in their community.
Whatever the story, the Indomie Heroes Awards wants to hear it, because sometimes the biggest heroes are the ones quietly doing the right thing when nobody is watching!
So if there’s a young hero in your school, neighbourhood, or family, this is the moment to shine a light on them.
