Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze scores in another 8-goal thriller for Villarreal [Video]
Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Samuel Chukwueze was on the scoresheet for Spanish La Liga giants Villareal on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
The 22-year-old found the back of the net as Villareal recorded an impressive 7-1 away victory against lower-division outfit Atlético Sanluqueño in a Spanish Copa Del Rey fixture.
Chukwueze seized the opportunity given to him by Villareal boss Unai Emery to start the game.
The yellow submarine went into the halftime break with a five-goal lead. Chukwueze scored the fourth Villarreal in the 40th minute of the game.
The Nigerian winger received a ball from Spanish left-back Alfonso Pedraza and then converted.
The second half of the game was different from the first as Villareal only scored twice while Atlético Sanluqueño pulled one back.
Despite the consolation goal by Atlético Sanluqueño, Villareal completed a 7-1 rout in an eight-goal thriller to progress to the next round of the competition.
The former Golden Eaglets star created two key chances in the game but was not involved in any of the other goals scored.
In the 76th minute, Chuwkueze was replaced by Spanish young winger Yeremy Pino.
It was the fourth goal of the season for Chukwueze since he returned from injury over two months ago.
He was on target against Barcelona in La Liga, in the Champions League against Young Boys, and previously in the Copa Del Rey against Victoria CF.
Chukwueze will aim to find the back of the net when Villareal travels to face Real Sociedad at the Anoeta in a Spanish La Liga fixture scheduled for Saturday, December 18.
