Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers wants a return to the Netherlands after he revealed that the doors to Feyenoord remain very much open.

Dessers spent a successful 2021/22 season loan with the Eredivisie outfit from Jupiler club Genk.

He played a key role as Feyenoord went all the way to the Europa Conference League final, scoring over 20 goals in all competitions. 

Ten of those goals came in the Europa Conference, where he finished as the top scorer as De Kuip lost to AS Roma in the final.

Dessers wants a return to Feyenoord

With Feyenoord unable to cough out the required fee needed to make the move a permanent one after an impressive loan spell, Dessers has returned to Genk.

Speaking to Dutch-based media outfit, De Telegraaf, the 27-year-old has admitted that the doors are still open for a possible return.

"I think that door is always ajar. It can always be pushed open again," Dessers said.

"It is certainly not a closed book for me and I don't think it is for them either. I had a fantastic time at Feyenoord."

"I will not just forget that and that is still in the back of my mind. I am curious what will happen this summer."

Dessers reflects on his loan spell

During his time at the club, the Nigeria striker recalls with fondness his impressive one year at the club. He describes it as 'fantastic'.

"We had a fantastic year, which I look back on with great fondness," he added.
