Akpeyi who was in goal in Super Eagles 2-0 loss to South Africa in June suffered a hamstring injury in training on Tuesday, August 29.
Ezenwa will now start in goal following his impressive outing for Super Eagles Team B.
The IfeanyiUbah FC goalkeeper saved a penalty in Super Eagles Team B 2-0 win over the Republic of Benin to qualify for the 2018 African Nations Championships (CHAN).
The 28-year-old goalkeeper is very focused on the task at hand and wants to ensure the Super Eagles get all the three points.
“I’m okay, just looking forward to the game and hoping to play my part very well,” the goalkeeper told Pulse Sports when he was asked if he was nervous ahead of the game.
“It is a huge responsibility to represent Nigeria. I thank the coaches for this opportunity. I will not disappoint."
Ezenwa was first called up to the Super Eagles in 2015 and has been part of the squad for World cup and Nations cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile, Plateau United goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye has been called up to replace the injured Akpeyi.
Super Eagles first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme continues to be out of the game as he undergoes chemotherapy for acute leukaemia.
Rohr is still hopeful for the return of former Super Eagles captain Vincent Enyeama who quit in 2015.
