Tottenham secured their first Premier League victory of the season with a 3-1 home win over Coventry in gameweek 7. Spurs ended a six-match winless league streak to ease the pressure. Goals from the returning James Maddison (14'), Omar Marmoush (59'), and Ben Davies (96') sealed the points, with the opening two strikes providing moment of sheer brilliance. Jack Rudoni (50') was on target for the visitors.
The hosts broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Mohammed Kudus found James Maddison on the edge of the box, with the midfielder finding the net courtesy of a magnificent long-range strike. Marking his first Premier League start in 536 days, Maddison capped his return in style.
Dominic Solanke had the ball in the back of the net just five minutes later, but his effort was chalked off for offside.
Coventry levelled matters five minutes into the second half. Jack Rudoni's initial cross was overhit for his teammate, but when the ball came back his way, he opted to shoot and managed to beat Antonin Kinsky to make it 1-1.
Parity lasted just nine minutes. In the 59th minute, Omar Marmoush received the ball outside the penalty area, shook off his marker, turned sharply, and unleashed a thunderous effort to restore Tottenham's advantage.
Spurs squandered a great chance to extend their lead in the 82nd minute. Mateus Fernandes latched onto a loose ball at the edge of the area and fired a dangerous attempt, only to be denied by an excellent save from goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.
Tottenham put the result beyond doubt deep into stoppage time. Following a goalmouth scramble, the ball broke to Solanke, who laid it off for Ben Davies to squeeze a low finish past the diving goalkeeper and seal a 3-1 victory.
The victory lifts Tottenham up to 16th place on six points, while Coventry drop to 17th, level on points with Spurs.
