Strickland Clashes with UFC Again Over Fighter Pay Dispute

Sean Strickland has reignited his feud with the UFC over fighter pay. Just a day after taking to social media to voice his frustration with UFC compensation and hinting at fighting out his contract to explore free agency, the middleweight champion declared that he will not step back into the Octagon until the matter is resolved.

"I'm not fighting or signing any contract until we get this sorted," Strickland posted. "I hope we find a resolution soon. Thank you everyone for the support, it really helps!"

Strickland has been using social media since September to express discontent with his current purse during negotiations for a title defense against Nassourdine Imavov. The champion is currently riding a two-fight winning streak, having stopped Anthony Hernandez before securing a hard-fought decision over Khamzat Chimaev to reclaim the middleweight crown.

The American stated that he is even weighing the option of vacating his UFC belt to fulfill his remaining contract obligations in the light heavyweight division (205 lbs) before parting ways with the organization.

"Contemplating just moving up to light heavyweight, fighting out my contract, and then going to fight Jake Paul," Strickland wrote on Wednesday. "Sounds fun."
