Keshi passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Benin City, Edo State.
Jonathan said “I was Nigeria’s leader when Stephen Keshi led our team to win AFCON and I testify that we couldn’t have done it without him. Adieu Keshi.”
Reports say the Late coach’s last wish was to be buried in his home town and have his wife reburied by his side.
Dr Rafiu Oladipo, President-General, Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC), also suggested the naming of a stadium in the country after the late Super Eagles Coach.

Stephen Keshi was the coach of the Super Eagles when they won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2013, making him the second person to win the trophy both as a player and a coach.
