Eliminated from the play-in tournament by the Suns (111-96) on Friday, the Warriors missed the playoffs for the second time in the last five seasons, with the previous instance being in 2023-24. However, Stephen Curry didn't dwell on the disappointment for long. The four-time champion, who led his team to six Finals between 2015 and 2022, was spotted – and openly shared – enjoying the famous Coachella music festival alongside his wife, Ayesha.
The well-known couple traveled from Sacramento to Indio, also in California, for the second weekend of the event.
Ayesha Curry, 37, shared several moments from the weekend on her social media. On Sunday, she posted a selfie with her 38-year-old husband on Instagram, captioned "My loverrr." In the image, the Warriors' point guard flashes a peace sign while holding a drink.
In a TikTok video set to Justin Bieber's song "Confident," Ayesha showcased her festival preparations, captioning it "Mom's first Coachella." Her posts also included images of the venue and videos of performances by Labrinth, whom she called "so talented," and Justin Bieber, whose show she described as "iconic," tagging Hailey Bieber's husband.
The couple was joined by Steph's sister, Sydel Curry-Lee, and her husband, former Golden State teammate Damion Lee. Sydel also shared a video of the group at a rented house, which garnered a comment from Brittany, Patrick Mahomes' wife, who wrote: "So good."
It's worth remembering that after the loss that ended the Warriors' season, an emotional moment between Curry, his long-time teammate Draymond Green, and coach Steve Kerr went viral. The 60-year-old coach, with whom Curry not only won titles, but Curry also earned two MVP awards and 12 All-Star selections, was captured telling the two players: "I don't know what's going to happen next, but I love you guys to death."
When asked about that moment, Curry commented to reporters: "I appreciate that he had that moment, because regardless of anything, we're human beings and we have to be able to acknowledge each other in that moment. But I don't know if that's a sign of anything. We just wanted to appreciate everything we've invested in this journey."
With one season remaining on his contract with the Warriors, where his $62.587 million salary will keep him as the league's highest-paid player, Stephen Curry's future remains uncertain. The question is whether the Warriors will attempt to rebuild a team around his capabilities, which remain at an elite level after 17 seasons in the league, despite injuries limiting him to 43 regular-season games, or if Curry will seek another team, even leaving the only club he's known, to pursue another championship. This will be challenging due to his substantial salary and the new rules and penalties regarding team salary caps.
