In his first statements as a 'Lion' player, Diogo Almeida confessed that the club's offer was "irresistible." "A club of such magnitude, such a big club... It's a dream to represent Sporting, especially for a young athlete like me. I had this opportunity and I couldn't refuse it," stated the athlete, who already boasts six caps for Portugal.

The player views this new chapter as a "reward" for his hard work "on and off the court." It's worth noting that Diogo Almeida made his league debut at just 15 years old, playing for Castêlo da Maia GC, and last season he featured in 27 matches for AA São Mamede.

Ambitious to grow, the setter is aware of the challenge ahead. "My goals are Sporting's goals, but, individually, I want to develop and be the best player I can be. While I'm here, I'll give my all on the court," he promised.

The young talent believes that training with an experienced squad and under the guidance of João Coelho will be crucial for his development. "He's a very good coach, and the training level of all the athletes is extremely high. It's a reality I've never experienced, or anything close to it. I think the level of training will help me evolve a lot and quickly," he assessed.
