The defining moment came courtesy of a blistering 23-0 run by Detroit in the fourth quarter, turning a 10-point deficit into a 112-99 lead. Duncan Robinson knocked down back-to-back three-pointers before sinking three free throws, followed by another pair of triples from Jalen Green and Robinson that handed Detroit complete control.

Boston made a late push to set up a tense finish, but the Pistons held their nerve at the free-throw line to lock up the win, spoiling Paul George's spectacular debut for the Celtics.

George delivered an outstanding 38-point performance, showing he will be an immediate force for Boston. Payton Pritchard and Derrick White contributed 17 points each, while Jayson Tatum finished with 13 points and 11 assists.

For the victorious Pistons, Cade Cunningham and Jalen Duren led the charge with 22 points apiece. Duncan Robinson added 21, Jalen Green chipped in with 19, and Ausar Thompson posted a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Pistons now travel to Florida for a showdown against the Miami Heat, while the Celtics return home to host the NBA champion New York Knicks.
