The players, according to , have not been paid their salaries, allowances and match bonuses for five months.

In protest, the players stay off training at the Lekan Salami Stadium on Tuesday; according to the report, only the coaches and officials attended training.

There were rumours of a possible boycott ahead of last weekend’s home clash against Enugu Rangers but the players turned up to gain a vital 2-1 win.

A player also confirmed in the reports that it was a collective decision of the players to stay away from training.

“We have commitments just like everyone else. Despite our poor financial situation, we remain loyal to the club,” “the unidentified player said.

“We are putting in everything to make sure the club escape relegation but the management and maybe the owner of the club (Oyo State Government), should do something to make us happy. This is not a decision of the captain or anyone, but everyone.”

Speaking on the issue, the state’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Abayomi Oke said the issue will be resolved as soon as possible.

Shooting Stars are 14th in the NPFL table and travel to face Warri Wolves on Sunday, September 18.
