Ugandan currency stable as central bank mops up liquidity

The Ugandan shilling held steady on Thursday, helped by removal of a large amount of excess liquidity from the interbank market via a seven-day repo.

At 0834 GMT, commercial banks quoted the shilling at 3,370/3,380, unchanged from Wednesday's close.

Bank of Uganda removed 604 billion shillings ($179.33 million) via the repo.
