During the inauguration of governing councils of 12 new federal universities in Abuja, yesterday, March 1, Garba described this development as 'embarassing.'

Garba added that the solution to this trend is to strengthen the weak educational structure in the country.

She, however, added that it was a positive development that tertiary institutions in Nigeria were gradually scaling up to be ranked among the top 100 best universities in the world.

Garba also said contending issues still needed to be brought to the front burner, to ensure that Nigerian tertiary institutions rank among the best 100 in the world in the near future.
