The award winning rapper posted a message on his Instagram account on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, lamenting the cost of DJ Mensah, and followed up with a declaration that he has already started taking lessons on how to be his own DJ from next year.

“Learning how to Dj maself cos ma Dj@djmensah too expensive smh!!! Self Djing from nxt year.” Sarkodie posted.

It is however clear that the post was a mild joke with DJ Mensah, who is arguably one of the best Disc Jockeys in Ghana. Mensah has been the official DJ for the renowned rapper for quite a long span.

Meanwhile, according to veteran Ghanaian hip-life musician and current president of the Musicians Union of Ghana, Obour, the rapper puts in the extra effort into his art, and that sets him apart from all other musicians in Ghana.

"For instance; if you see Sarkodie performing, there are times you see some pyro lights and some smokes, they are not things organisers brought, those are items he as an artist pays for organisers to incorporate into his performance. He is up there because he puts a lot on his art,”  Obour  revealed.

Obour, whose real name is Bice Osei Kuffour, showered props on the hip hop act for investing financially into equipment that can make his craft better.

Speaking in a recent interview with eTV’s ‘The Late Nite Celebrity Show,’ the ‘Min Wu Biom’ rapper who said he hasn’t performed much on stage since becoming the MUSIGA president in August 2011, praised Sarkodie for being on top of his game and investing in his craft.

“No disrespect to the others doing it but Sarkodie invests so much into his art, He is one of the artists whom when you engage to come perform at a concert, and you finish your monetary and paper works, he personally invests into the show.” Obour added.
