Chukwu, who handled a case of alleged forgery brought against Senate President, Bukola Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, died at the age of 51 after a brief illness.

His death was announced via a statement released by the court’s chief registrar, Emmanuel Gako on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

Gako added that the court had declared Thursday a work free day in Chukwu’s honour.

The case against Saraki and Ekweremadu was launched in 2015 by some senators opposed to their leadership of the upper legislative chamber.
