Senate President, Bukola Saraki was inaugurated on June 9, 2015, after being unanimously elected by 57 senators.

Saraki’s emergence led to crisis in his party, All Progressives Congress (APC) due to the fact that Senator Ahmed Lawan had been chosen as the party’s sole candidate.
