Nigeria beat Cote d'Ivoire 9-1 to win bronze in 2015 CAF Beach Soccer Championship

The Nigeria Sand Eagles yesterday, Sunday, April 19 won bronze at the 2015 CAF Beach Soccer Championship.

Adamu Ejor’s men walloped their counterparts from Ivory Coast 9-1 in the third place match played at the Roche Caiman Sports Complex, Roche Caiman on Sunday afternoon.

A hat-trick from Abu Azeez, brace each from Emeka Ogbonna and Olawale Isiaka and a goal each from Bartholomew Igbenegbu and Lokosa Junior Sewanu were all the Supersand Eagles needed to win the Losers final.

From the start of the whistle, the Sand Eagles started on the bright note and were three goals up at the end of the first period thanks to Abu,   Emeka and Olawale.

Olawale grabbed his second on the day while Ibenegbu also netted to see the Sand Eagles go 6-1 after trhe Ivorians pulled one back before the end of the second period.

Lokosa scored the seventh before Emeka and Abu completed the rampage in the 10-goal thriller.

The win make up Nigeria's failure to qualify for the upcoming Beach Soccer World Cup as they failed to reach the final of the CAF Beach Soccer Championship.

Madagascar meanwhile  emerged champions after beating Senegal in the final.
