Coach of the Nigeria’s Dream Team VISamson Siasia has revealed that he won’t be distracted by the kidnap of his aged mother, Ogere Siasia.
According to several reports, the aged mother of the former Super Eagles coach was abducted from her house in Odoni village, Saghama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
The reports revealed that unknown identified gunmen in the early hours of Monday, November 16 forced their way through the back door and took the woman before fleeing with a motorbike.
Siasia is currently in Gambia where he is preparing the Nigeria U-23 team for the African U-23 Championship billed for Senegal.
While appreciating the support from the Federal Government and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) the coach promised to remain focus with the task at his hands.
“Word are not enough to show appreciation to well-meaning Nigerians and football fans that have shown love and concern towards my mum’s plight,” he told Sporting Life.
“This has reassured me that Nigerians appreciate peoples contributions to this round leather game they love passionately.
“I have been overwhelmed with the way the Federal Government, my employers- the Nigeria Football Federation have handled this issue.
“I am using this medium to assure all football loving Nigerians that the kidnap of my mum won’t stop us from qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympics.
“The devil is a liar. We will do everything within our capabilities to qualify the team for the Olympics.”
