Australia's Michael Hooper cited

Australia flanker Michael Hooper has been cited for alleged foul play in Saturday's Rugby World Cup victory over England at Twickenham.

Hooper was outstanding in the Wallabies' 33-13 hammering of Stuart Lancaster's side, which put them through to the quarter-finals and knocked the hosts out of the tournament.

But the 23-year-old could miss the Pool A decider against Wales - also at Twickenham - at the weekend after being cited for clearing out Mike Brown in a ruck just before half time.

A Rugby World Cup statement said: "Michael Hooper (Australia) has been cited by independent Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds (New Zealand) for an alleged act of foul play contrary to Law 10.4(h) (charging into a ruck or maul without use of the arms or grasping the player) during the 39th minute of the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool A match between England and Australia at Twickenham on Saturday, 3 October.

"The hearing will take place at 10:00 on Tuesday, 6 October at the offices of RWC 2015 official law firm Clifford Chance in London. The case will be heard by independent Judicial Officer Alan Hudson (Canada)."

Sam Burgess has been given a warning for his dangerous high tackle on Hooper, which equates to a yellow card.
