Greenwood, Dallaglio throw support behind Clive Woodward
England's 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood says that his former coach Sir Clive Woodward should be part of the inquest into the team's 2015 failure.
A five-man panel will conduct a review to find out what went wrong after England's embarrassing group stage exit on home soil.
It includes former international Ben Kay and Sir Ian McGeechan but Woodward, the only man to guide a northern hemisphere side to the trophy, is not involved.
Greenwood suggested the Rugby Football Union are making a mistake to overlook the former head coach.
"I just think the accusation you could point at England Rugby is, in a review board, or certainly over the last two or three years within the England rugby team is, how have we dealt with the non-conformist? And by and large, it's: 'Thank you, but no thank you, sir'," he said.
"Were you to look at some of the great business leaders of our time very few of them tend to be conformists. I, for one, would have him throwing stones from inside, rather than outside."
Meanwhile, ex-England captain Lawrence Dallaglio, who played for the national team from 1995 to 2007, believes the team has underperformed for more than a decade.
"I think it doesn't take many of us to realise that this decision is a decision we haven't really got right for 12 years," he said.
"Therefore it's a decision we need to get right this time. England, in the last 12 years, have had four, if not five coaches.
"They've won one Six Nations title in 12 years while other countries like Ireland have won three, France have won four, Wales have won four, so it's a decision we need to get right and good luck to the panel in their findings and research."
Dallaglio has been vocal in his support of Woodward and has questioned the reasons behind his absence from the panel.
"I think I have made my views very clear on Sir Clive Woodward. He is the one person who's done the job before. He's English, as far as I am aware. And he has won the Rugby World Cup.
"We continue to ignore the person who has actually delivered the goods, so maybe he will be considered for the job which is why he's not on the panel."
