Brazilian World Cup winner Ronaldo is the latest football legend to express his admiration for newly crowned global champions, Spain. The 'Phenomenon' was even in the stands in New Jersey to witness their 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final.
“It was a historic day, both sportingly, because Spain dominated from start to finish, as I expected, and for other reasons. Spain didn't score the goals they deserved, nor did they win by the margin I anticipated, but their dominance was absolute throughout the entire match,” Ronaldo commented on his TikTok profile.
The former striker further asserted that Spain inflicted a heavy defeat on Argentina: “It was crushing. The class difference between Spain and Argentina is vast. Even with Messi in their squad, they couldn't contend with them. Argentina didn't fight with the great passion that was their strength throughout the tournament. A talented player can win a match, but to win a World Cup, you need the strength of a team, which Spain possesses. They play as one unit; everyone is important.”
Regarding Argentina's performance throughout the World Cup, Ronaldo added: “They never played good football; they simply fought with a lot of grit, but they didn't play beautifully. Spain has its DNA, the beautiful game. Brazilian 'Joga Bonito' is now a thing of the past, and the way Spain plays now is the best.”
When asked about Rodri, the Brazilian stated: “He is the number one candidate for the 'Ballon d'Or'. He was Spain's most outstanding player at this World Cup, and that carries significant weight in determining the winner. He could win it again.”
