The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has given a report of accidents, fatalities and injuries for the month of June, 2016.

The report, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on August 12, in Abuja, showed that Bauchi had 37 accident-related deaths, making it the state, with the highest death toll.

Kaduna followed with 35 deaths from 59 cases involving 418 people, which left 225 serious injuries.

FCT was third with 34, Ogun had 29, Lagos, 21, and Kano state with 20 fatalities.

The highest number of accidents was recorded on the Abuja-Lokoja route, which had 40 crashes, with 264 people, 32 deaths and 136, while the Abuja-Kubwa road accounted for 24 cases.

Lagos-Abuja and Abuja-Kaduna roads had 28 cases, Lagos-Ibadan recorded 26 deaths, Abuja, 18 deaths, while the Jos-Bauchi and Bauchi –Kano roads claimed seven and 12 lives respectively.

421 cases (43.8%) of road traffic accidents were reportedly caused by speeding, while 10% was by dangerous driving.

The report showed 713 commercial vehicles (58%), 487 private cars (40%), two percent government and diplomatic automobiles, 252 motorcycles (20.6%), 191 minibuses (15.6%),  and 121 trucks (10%). per cent.

In total, there were 758 road traffic accidents, 4,720 people with 385 deaths, 2,092 injuries, involving 1,224 vehicles for June.
