The most exciting moment for Team Nigeria came with our 200m champions Divine Oduduru finishing very closely behind Usain Bolt in men’s heat to progress to the semifinal.

Oduduru ran a personal best of 20.34 finishing closely behind Bolt who ran a time of 20.28s.

Ese brume is another medal hopeful for Nigeria after progressing to the final of Women’s Long Jump event.

She leaped a mark of 6.67m in the qualification rounds and finished top 12.

Oluwatobiloba Amusan qualified for the semi-finals of the women’s 100m Hurdles. She luckily qualified as one of the best losers with a 12.99s finish.

It wasn’t the same for Blessing Okagbare who could not get to the final of the Women’s 200m. .

It was also a knock out for Antwon Hicks who finished eighth in a time of 14.26s in the Men’s 110m hurdles. Running from lane 2 in heat 3 Hicks clipped a barrier which affected his momentum.

Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba was also knocked out as he lost in the +91 Super Heavyweight quarterfinal bout against Ivan Dychko of Kazakhstan.
