A blockbuster quarter-final between Angelique Kerber and Johanna Konta in the women's singles, wide open following Serena Williams' loss, will also be played on Thursday.
Among others to be rescheduled were Juan Martin del Potro, who beat Novak Djokovic in the first round, Marin Cilic and Kei Nishikori.
Nadal, the 2008 singles gold medallist, is due to play three matches, teaming up with Marc Lopez and Garbine Muguruza in the men's doubles and mixed doubles respectively.
