Restaurants and gastronomic business interests of LaLiga stars
Some LaLiga stars are also businessmen.
A look at various restaurants that are fully or partly owned by current or former LaLiga footballers.
Naked&Sated, Madrid (Marcos Llorente and Ibai Gómez)
Atlético de Madrid’s Marcos Llorente and Athletic Club’s Ibai Gómez are two of the fittest footballers in LaLiga Santander. They are both passionate about healthy eating and have joined forces for a project in Madrid, opening Naked&Sated in the Chamartín area of the city.
Blue Spot, Barcelona. (Gerard Piqué)
Along with his partner Shakira, Barcelona centre-back Gerard Piqué purchased a minor stake in the group behind Blue Spot. Located right next to the exclusive W Hotel on Barcelona’s beachfront, Blue Spot is a restaurant with beautiful views of the Catalan capital and of the Mediterranean. At night, it even has a nightclub: Blue Monkey.
La Grada, Málaga (Weligton Oliveira)
Brazilian centre-back Weligton Oliveira spent the final decade of his career in Málaga and fell in love with the city on Spain’s southern coast, so much so that he opened a restaurant there. That was in 2015 when he was still playing, before he retired in 2017. The restaurant, though, is still going strong.
Carpo Gourmet, Madrid (Miguel Ángel Moyá)
Miguel Ángel Moyá is now plying his trade at Real Sociedad in the north of Spain, but spent much of his career in the Spanish capital with Getafe CF and Atletico de Madrid. While in Madrid, the keeper and his wife Patrizia Ruiz opened a healthy living restaurant called Carpo Gourmet in upmarket suburb of Pozuelo de Alarcón.
Amadores Beach Club, Gran Canaria (David Silva)
For several years, David Silva has been investing in Amadores Beach Club in his homeland of Gran Canaria. He himself spends summers relaxing there, enjoying the gourmet food at the restaurants on the premises.
La Carioca, Barcelona (Rafinha Alcántara)
Barcelona’s beachfront features a Brazilian restaurant named La Carioca and it is part-owned by one of LaLiga Santander’s Brazilian stars, Rafinha Alcántara. Even though the midfielder has spent so much of his life living in Barcelona, the restaurant actually opened during his brief stint playing on loan at Inter Milan in 2018.
The Bowie Bar, Valladolid (Borja Fernández)
Borja Fernández played for various LaLiga clubs during his career, but it was at Real Valladolid where he really made his mark. He enjoyed three separate stints at the Jose Zorrilla and struck up a special connection with the city, investing in multiple hospitality venues. One of his most recent investments was a cocktail bar and restaurant called The Bowie Bar.
