Right-back Reece James was absent from England's training session in Mexico City ahead of their World Cup clash against co-hosts Mexico on Sunday. The 26-year-old started the first two matches against Croatia and Ghana, but a hamstring injury sidelined him for the games against Panama and DR Congo.

James appears set to miss a third consecutive match after not participating in England's training in the Mexican capital. Conversely, Jarell Quansah joined the session before the Round of 16 fixture, having been sidelined from Wednesday's match against DR Congo with a sprained ankle. Meanwhile, manager Thomas Tuchel revealed that key midfielder Declan Rice suffered from severe nerve pain in that game, but he also took part in training ahead of the Mexico match.
