Late Super Eagles legend to be honoured at Federation Cup final
Late Super Eagles legend Rashidi Yekini will be honoured at the Federation Cup final on Sunday, November 22.
Yekini scored 37 goals for the Super Eagles represented Nigeria in five major tournaments, including two FIFA World Cup competition where he scored the country's first-ever goal in the competition.
He was also named the African Footballer of the Year in 1993.
Yekini died in 2011 and will be honoured alongside another former Nigeria international Friday Ekpo in Sunday’s Federation Cup final between Lobi Stars and Akwa United at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Dahiru Sadi, Sam Opone, Baba Otu Mohammed, Okey Isima, Best Ogedegbe, Amusa Adisa, Inua Rigogo and Ifeanyi Onyedika will also be honoured for making the cup competition the most glamorous football competition in the country.
Others on the 2015 honourary list are former FIFA- graded referee Linus Mba and veteran journalist Segun Adenuga.
