Rashford's Manchester Return? Michael Carrick Addresses Star's Future

English football coach Michael Carrick has not ruled out Marcus Rashford's return to Manchester United. The 28-year-old winger is currently on a year-long loan at FC Barcelona, and it remains uncertain whether the Spanish club will activate his purchase clause after the season.

Rashford last featured for the Red Devils in December 2024. He spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa and has been donning the Blaugrana colours since July. He's found success in Barcelona, tallying 12 goals and 13 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. However, according to AFP, the Catalan giants are reportedly hesitant to activate his £26 million purchase clause.

The Englishman still has two years remaining on his contract with United, with his salary set to increase by 25 percent if the club qualifies for the Champions League. This scenario appears likely, as Manchester currently sits third in the Premier League table with six matches left in the season, and a top-five finish guarantees a spot in Europe's most prestigious club competition.

“I just think there are going to be a lot of decisions to be made in time, and obviously Marcus is part of that. Nothing has been decided yet. At some point, a decision will have to be made, but at this stage, there’s nothing to say,” Carrick stated.
