Portuguese tactician Carlos Queiroz has announced his resignation as head coach of the Ghana national team. His decision comes after the African side exited the FIFA World Cup in the Round of 16, following a 0-1 defeat to Colombia.

The 73-year-old coach took to social media to share his message:

“Football, much like life, offers us an eternal lesson: you either win, or you learn. I depart this journey with pride for what we achieved, but also with a healthy dissatisfaction for those who always demanded more. Reaching a higher level should not be the ultimate goal, but the beginning of even greater ambitions. The future of the Ghana national team will not be built solely on the pitch. Success must start there – by creating the best possible conditions for the preparation, protection, and development of the country's exceptional footballing talents.”

Queiroz took charge of the “Black Stars” in April, succeeding Otto Addo. This marked the ninth national team in the Portuguese coach's extensive career, which also includes managing clubs of the caliber of Real Madrid.
