The black-and-whites faced sanctions stemming from a dispute with former captain Kevin Punter. The American sought approximately 200,000 euros in unpaid income tax, and FIBA's Basketball Arbitral Tribunal (BAT) ruled in his favor.
The core of the dispute revolved around the interpretation of obligations. Partizan argued it was not liable for the annual income tax costs of individuals earning significantly above the Serbian average. Consequently, two installments totaling $305,000 were withheld, with half of that amount later paid to the player.
Although Partizan appealed to the Swiss Federal Court, the appeal did not delay the enforcement of the ruling. The club paid the disputed sum to ensure smooth operations, but continues its legal battle before the Swiss court, hoping to recover the funds.
The lifting of the ban comes at an ideal time for the black-and-whites' coaching staff, who are preparing to finalize a deal with Kyle Allman, the guard from Turk Telekom.
