Portugal is set to officially announce the name of its new national team coach tomorrow. It has been known for several days that the experienced Jorge Jesus, who won the Saudi Arabian championship with Cristiano Ronaldo and Al-Nassr a few months ago, will take the helm.
Following Portugal's elimination from the World Cup and his return from the USA, federation president Pedro Proença stated that news regarding Roberto Martinez's successor would be released by the end of the week.
The date, July 10, 2026, is no coincidence, as tomorrow marks exactly 10 years since Portugal clinched the Euro 2016 title.
According to local media, Jesus has requested former defender Pepe as his assistant, a role Pepe was also rumored to take under José Mourinho at Real Madrid.
The new coach's contract will run until the end of the 2030 World Cup.
