Tianjin Quanjian coach Cannavaro has revealed that his club has made a bid for the forward.

With players like Alexandre Pato,Geuvanio and Axel Witsel already in the squad, Cannavaro says Aubameyang is a target for the club.

“We did make an approach for Rooney, but it was just chit-chat because he simply doesn’t suit our style of play. No further discussion was necessary,” the 43-year-old said in an interview with Tianjin TV.

“The truth is we had more frequent contact with Aubameyang. Unfortunately, our bid was rejected by Borussia Dortmund who said he was needed in this season’s Champions League.”

Aubameyang, the Bundesliga's top scorer this season with 17 goals recently gave two interviews where he openly admitted that he is considering leaving in June.

The Gabon striker has a Dortmund contract until 2020 but has made it clear he wants to eventually play for Real Madrid to keep a promise he made to his grandfather just before he died.
