In a pre-match press conference ahead of the crucial home leg against SC Braga in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals, Manuel Pellegrini addressed Sporting's reported interest in Sergi Altimira.
The 24-year-old defensive midfielder is reportedly the Lions' primary target to fill the potential void left by captain Morten Hjulmand's departure next summer. Altimira is valued at 20 million euros, but the Betis coach remained tight-lipped on the matter.
“These are speculations and rumors that aren't worth discussing,” he stated. “There's a buying and selling price, but it's not something we're currently thinking about,” he revealed.
Altimira did not start in Braga, coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw (playing 28 minutes), but he has been in the starting XI for the last two LaLiga fixtures. This season, he has recorded 2 goals and 2 assists in 38 appearances.
