Francesco Bagnaia enjoyed his strongest Friday in quite some time at the Indonesian Grand Prix after securing tenth place at the end of timed Practice at Mandalika.

The result sees the Italian seal direct entry into Qualifying 2 for the first time since the Dutch TT in late June. Speaking to the media, Bagnaia explained that his breakthrough stemmed from a setup discovery made during the Japanese Grand Prix last weekend.
"Honestly, looking at how things were yesterday, I didn't think I would manage it here because we usually struggle quite a bit at this circuit. But this morning, thanks to something we figured out during the race in Japan, I felt much better on the brakes and entering corners. That allowed me to put in more consistent laps, which helped build my confidence. "It went well overall. True, we had a few minor issues and I lost the front a couple of times. It was due to something I cannot disclose, but hopefully everything will be sorted for tomorrow. It was challenging having to constantly swap bikes in the afternoon, especially since they had different setups. "Nevertheless, I'm pleased with the job we did. I think we performed well. Aprilia is far ahead at the moment, but we still have pace to unlock. "Right now, our potential isn't quite enough to challenge Aprilia because I'm losing too much time in sectors two and four. But I believe every small tweak can make a difference. We saw that with a slightly reduced lean angle today, I managed to improve in the fourth sector. I'll work on my riding style, and we'll look into the setup. Having both bikes configured identically tomorrow should make things even better," Bagnaia explained.
