Jose Mourinho tells Manchester United star he will never captain his side again
According to a report by by the , Pogba was informed of the decision by Mourinho in front of his teammates.
The 25-year-old reportedly criticised Mourinho's decision and tactics as they were held to a 1-1 draw to Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last Premier League encounter.
Pogba has been courted by who revealed that he would be a good signing for the La Liga giants.
The report by the , Mourinho responded to the criticism by Pogba after the encounter where he stated that the team should be more attacking at home.
He said, “We’re at home, and we should play much better against Wolves.
“When we’re at home we should attack, attack, attack. That’s Old Trafford. We’re here to attack. I think teams are scared when they see Manchester United attacking and attacking .That was our mistake."
“We should just attack and press, like we did against Tottenham, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal last season. When we play like this, it’s easier for us.”
The report state that Pogba was informed of the latest development by Mourinho as they prepared for their Carabao Cup game against Frank Lampard's Derby County.
The report reveals that Chris Smalling, Ander Herrera, Ashley Young or Nemanja Matic are being considered as alternatives if Antonio Valencia is not available.
Speaking to Sky Sports after their loss on penalties to Derby County, Mourinho reaffirmed his decision to strip Pogba of the captaincy but maintained that he has a professional relationship with Pogba.
He said, Sky Sports: "The only truth is that I made the decision of Paul not to be the second captain anymore.
"But no fall-out. No problems at all. The same person that decides Paul is not second captain anymore was exactly the same person that decides that Paul was the second captain, myself.
"I am the manager, I can make these decisions, no fall-out at all, no problems at all, just one decision that I don't have to explain."
Pogba's future at Old Trafford has been a constant discussion after his performance at the world cup and he failed to dismiss rumours of a possible move away in a recent interview.
