Jekiri Confirms Stay

Partizan lost to Dubai in the ABA League final, and immediately after the fourth game of the series, Dwayne Washington confirmed his departure from Humska, while Tonye Jekiri affirmed he would wear the black-and-white jersey next season.

Yes, I'm staying. I'm very grateful. I was out of the EuroLeague for two years, and returning and having the opportunity to prove myself again means a lot to me. The club gave me a chance and showed trust, for which I am sincerely thankful. The fans also showed how much they care. I feel they love having me here, and for that, I am very grateful. It's up to me to continue proving myself and to repay the club's trust. Tonye Jekiri

Jekiri then spoke about how he feels in Belgrade and at Partizan after joining the club during one of its most challenging periods in recent history.

I feel really good. It shows on the court. The coaches trust me and put me in a position where I can shoot, play my game, and create opportunities for myself. Honestly, I didn't expect that. I thought I would primarily come to do the necessary, less noticeable things on the court and help the team that way. However, they showed me great trust and allowed me to do much more on the court. That means a lot to me. Tonye Jekiri

He claims he is happy in Serbia and wanted to stay in the country:

As for the city itself, Belgrade is beautiful. I liked the city immediately. I love the people here. From the moment I arrived, I felt like part of a family and enjoyed every moment. Because of all that, I really wanted to stay. When I received the offer, I didn't think much. Since I arrived, I have only experienced joy and happiness here. Tonye Jekiri
