EPL clubs to tighten security in wake of attack

Security will be tightened ahead of the English Premier League fixtures this weekend in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Paris.

French officials report that over 128 people were killed and another 99 left in a critical condition following what appeared to be co-ordinated terrorist acts across the French capital on Friday, November 13.

Four fatalities were reported outside the Stade de France, where France were playing an international friendly against Germany.

Since then, security fears have led to the postponement of the international friendly games between Belgium Vs Spain in Brussels and Germany Vs Netherlands in Hannover.

Security was extra in Tuesday, November 17 friendly clash between England and France at Wembley.

The Premier League have now revealed that thy will give all 20 top-flight clubs a full security briefing on Thursday ahead of the matchday 13.

Premier League officials have held meetings with security services, the police and the government and will inform clubs how to ensure the utmost safety at stadiums across the country.

They will advise clubs to implement extra, more thorough searches at stadium gates as security is heightened at every match.

It will be recommended that fans arrive earlier than usual at games to ensure everyone can enter the stadium before kick-off.

The police are in the process of reviewing their security operations for football games and will have extra presence at all matches.
