Indigenous mobile payments processing platform, Paga, has announced that processed over $1 billion worth of transactions from 17 million transaction, which is no small feat.

All 17 million transaction were a result of users who utilized the platform to either send or receive cash, purchase phone recharge credit, pay bills, retailers, and so0 on.

Paga is an online payments platform, headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria and launched on February 21, 2011. It aims to leverage the ubiquity of the mobile phone to enable a cashless society and therefore increase financial access to the unbanked population in the country.
