‘His death is shocking,’ Daily Times Publisher tells Pulse

The publisher of Daily Times, Mr. Fidelis Anosike has mourned the loss of a former Managing Director of the publication,

He was said to have been accosted by armed robbers while returning from the 80th birthday celebration of former President, Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun state.

“His death is shocking, very shocking,” Anosike said. “It’s a very sad time for us because we just buried one of our former Managing Directors, Innocent Oparadike.”

Oparadike died in Lagos on Monday, January 23, 2017, after suffering a heart attack.

“We are currently building on his [Onukaba’s] legacy and on our part we will do everything we can to immortalize him, and we pray that God will grant his family fortitude to bear the loss,” Anosike added.

One of Onukaba’s relatives, Yusuf Itopa, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the late journalist was hit by a vehicle while trying to escape the robbers.

Itopa also said that Onukaba’s corpse was deposited at a mortuary in Akure, Ondo state after the unfortunate incident.

The late journalist will be buried on Monday, March 6, at his hometown of Ihima in the Okehi Local Government area of Kogi.
