Online classifieds platform launches 'Report' button to help prevent fraud
Online classifieds platform OLX has launched a report button on its sister platform in Kenya aimed at making the platform much safer and user-friendly.
The button will allow users flag off suspicious listings or accounts that they believe is involved in carrying out illegal activities on the platform.
“For instance if a buyer requests for money before viewing an item then the buyer can use the Report button to report a suspicious seller”, said OLX Country Manager, Peter Ndiang’ui.
“The safety tips in the site will always remind users to transact safely. This, we believe will go a long way in ensuring OLX users are safe and informed on our platform,” he added.
The company is also stepping up its verification process to include both SMS and email verification in a move to properly identify and verify sellers on the platform as well as ascertain the genuineness of their inventory.
